Itinerary
9:00 AM
Welcome to my home
You'll meet me at my home in Sapa, where I'll give you a short introduction to Hmong textiles and culture. Then I'll hand you a piece of white fabric, you can draw your own design or follow a traditional Hmong pattern.
10:30 AM
Wax drawing session
Using hot beeswax and a traditional tool, you'll paint your chosen pattern onto the fabric, simple geometric shapes or Hmong symbols that carry real meaning. I'll guide you step by step; most guests find it a quiet, meditative process.
12:30 PM
Lunch at my home
We'll break for a homemade lunch together, a chance to taste local food and talk about daily life here in Sapa.
1:30 PM
Embroidery lesson
While your fabric takes the indigo, I'll teach you the basics of Hmong embroidery for about two hours, preparing thread, practicing traditional stitches, and building a small embroidered pattern of your own.
3:30 PM
Indigo dyeing & wax removal
Time to check your batik. I'll boil water to melt away the wax, revealing your design, the indigo dyes everywhere except where the wax protected the fabric. Every piece comes out a little different.
4:30 PM
Take your fabric home
Your finished indigo batik piece is ready to take with you, a real keepsake of a day spent making something by hand in Sapa.

What to Bring
- Clothes you don't mind marking, you'll be working with hot wax and indigo dye
