Silver Waterfall vs Love Waterfall: Which Sapa Tour Should You Book?

July 28, 2026

Silver Waterfall (Thac Bac) and Love Waterfall (Thac Tinh Yeu) are the two waterfalls almost every visitor asks about, and they're only a few minutes' drive apart on the road toward Fansipan. People often assume you have to pick one, you don't, and the two are different enough that seeing both in a day makes sense.

Silver Waterfall (Thac Bac)

One of the highest waterfalls in the Sapa area, cascading more than 200 metres down the mountainside right beside the road. You can see it and walk around it within about an hour to 90 minutes, no trek required, though there are viewing paths if you want a closer look. It's the more dramatic, photograph-first stop of the two.

Love Waterfall (Thac Tinh Yeu)

Reaching Love Waterfall means a short forest walk through bamboo, pine, and wildflowers first, the walk is part of the experience, not just a means to get there. The waterfall itself sits in a quieter, more sheltered setting tied to local legend, and it's a nicer spot to actually stop and stay a while rather than just photograph and move on.

So which one should you book?

If you only have a couple of hours, Silver Waterfall gives you the bigger visual payoff for less effort. If you want at least a little walking and a calmer setting, Love Waterfall is the better pick. But most people doing a one-day car tour see both, along with the Glass Bridge and Heaven's Gate viewpoint over the Tram Ton Pass, it's a full, varied day without needing multiple bookings.
